Vancouver Snowshoe Adventure Along the Crater Rim of a Volcano!

The adventure begins from our base at the Abbotsford Airport on a scenic flight past Mt. Robie Reid (2,095 m/6,873 feet) and Mt. Judge Howay (2,262 m/7,421 feet). Enjoy endless vistas of rising peaks and aerial views of the region. The rugged landscape conceals our landing spot on this small volcano until we are almost right on top of it. For this reason, it remained undiscovered for centuries until owner/operator Nick Drader first laid eyes on it in October 2015.

Capture the scenery through your lens before we touch down on the inner rim in some of the finest powder snow the West Coast has to offer. For safety and educational purposes, you are oriented on the area before we commence our day of winter fun. Strap on your snowshoes and follow your guide on an adventure to remember around the volcano rim, and admire the spectacular views that dominate the skyline in every direction.

After you’ve had your fill of fun, return to the helicopter for a gourmet picnic lunch in the most picturesque setting. This nameless extinct subglacial volcano is known as a Tuya and formed entirely beneath the ice during the last ice age. It is characterized by steep sidewalls and contains two distinct craters. During the summer months, this area is covered in many different types of volcanic rock.
